Do I need to waterproof my basement
before finishing?

If your basement has leaks, water weeping through cracks, puddles or wet stains on the floor, rust stains, efflorescence or mold on the basement walls, you probably have a defective drainage system, or no drainage system at all. Although our basement finishing products are made to withstand basement water seepage and water accidents, the same cannot be said about your furniture, electronics and fixtures you will be placing in your finished basement. It is, therefore, important that you provide adequate drainage, installing an interior perimeter drainage system and a good sump pump, to prevent basement floods.
