Installing a Basement Door in Manchester, CT

These home owners in Manchester, CT Called us out to fix a problem they had in their basement. The problem was they had no door at the bottom of the bilco in the basement! This is not good because it lets in humidity and water that could lead to serious problems in the future. To stop this from happening in the future, we installed a steel insulated door. First thing we do is frame out the opening for the door. Next step is to install the door and make sure it is level and plum. Then, we air seal the gaps between the door and framing. The last thing we do is trim the door so it looks great. Now these home owners will not have to worry about water coming into the basement from this door again!

Reducing Cold Floors in Hebron, CT

This home owner in Hebron, CT called us out because she had cold floors. When our building science specialist got to the home, they noticed a large crawlspace under the home. Crawlspaces are very cold in the winter and very hot and humid in the summer. To stop these outdoor elements from effecting the temperature in the home we have to encapsulate the crawlspace. To do this the first thing we must do is clean out the space. Once we've done this, we will lay down our drainage mat. This mat will collect the moisture that comes up from the dirt and let it properly evaporate. Then we lay down our Terra-block insulation for some much needed R-value. Then we put Silverglo EPS foam board on the walls to stop the conduction properly. After that, we lay our Cleanspace vapor barrier that is 20mil thick on the floor and walls. This will really help keep the crawlspace clean and block the elements from the dirt floor from effecting the space. The last thing we do is Sprayfoam the rim joist to make the entire space air tight. Now that we have completed this project, this home owner will not have to worry about cold floors again!

Reducing Water in a Basement in Durham, CT

This home owner in Durham, CT called us out to see what we could do about the water problem in her home. When we got down to the basement we noticed that there was no sump pump! Water collecting in pools on the floor with nowhere to go. To fix this, we installed our Super sump sump pump in the lowest point of the basement. Water travels down hill so all the water will run down to the low point in the basement. We then pump the water out through the sump pump and out into the yard with our lawnscape attachment. Now this home owner does not have to worry about water sitting in her basement ever again!

Making a Home More Comfortable in Westbrook, CT

This home owner in Westbrook, Ct called us out because she couldn't keep her home comfortable. In the summer it was way too hot and the winter it was really cold. To fix these issues, one of the treatment we did was insulate the attic. This will help keep the hot or cold air depending on the season, in your home. First thing we have to do is remove the old fiberglass batts. These are no longer any good because fiberglass is just a filter and does not do a good job at protecting your home. Next we air seal the attic so no convective air can escape from the living space to the attic. Then we blow out trusoft cellulose to an R-value of 60. This attic is now properly insulated and this home owner can live more comfortable in her own home!

Encapsulating Ducts Running Through Attic in Avon, CT

This office in Avon, CT contacted us about high energy costs and heat loss. There was ductwork in the attic exposed to the extreme temperatures of the attic.

We sealed and insulated the ducts with 1 inch of closed cell spray foam making it air tight. For main lines such as this one, we also place our SilverGlo graphite infused and foil faced foam to create a radiant barrier at the top of the ducts.

Thanks to Dr. Energy Saver by Eco Energy Solutions, these ducts will no longer be affected by the temperature of the attic.
