Cracked Wall Above Egress Windows Indicates Wall Failure, GeoLock™ Wall Anchor System Installed to Permanently Stabilize Champlin, MN Basement Walls

The owner of this home in Champlin, MN noticed that the wall in their basement bedroom was cracked near the ceiling above the egress window. They were worried about the structural integrity of the wall, so they decided to reach out to DBS.

A DBS Design Specialist was sent out to the property to conduct a free no-obligation estimate for the homeowner. After a thorough inspection, the Design Specialist educated the homeowners on what the root of the issue was, soil. The soil around the home is loosely packed, allowing it to shift and settle over time. This applies unwanted force inwards onto the basement walls and over time, they crack.

A DBS Foreman led the installation on this project with help from a crew. Together they installed our GeoLock™ Wall Anchor System to permanently stabilize the walls. The GeoLock™ Wall Anchor System works by excavating a hole on the exterior of the home into the soil. Then a pole is drilled from the inside of the basement out to the excavation site and a steel plate is attached to either end. The bolt-on the interior plate is tightened until the wall pushes against the interior plate, and the soil pushes against the exterior plate.

Now that the basement walls have been stabilized, the homeowner can relax peacefully knowing their basement bedroom is structurally sound.
