Settling Cabin in Tower, MN Stabilized with Helical Piers

This cabin in Tower, MN had issues with sinking and settling. Its block foundation walls were shifting and one side was leaning towards the lake. Looking for a permanent solution, they called DBS for a free, no-obligation estimate for foundation repair. 

DBS Design Specialist Henrik Makitalo has diagnosed structural issues in hundreds of homes and cabins in Minnesota and Wisconsin. After giving this cabin a thorough inspection, he suggested our helical piering system. Because the west wall was migrating outward toward the lake, he included helical tiebacks to ensure that the helical piers installed would not push outward as the foundation has moved in the past.

Installer Dakota King led this project, installing supplemental steel beams beneath the cabin first. This will provide more horizontal support to the structure. From there, Dakota and his team drove 8 helical piers into the ground to stabilize and support the weight of the cabin. 

This cabin is now permanently stabilized and will remain a family retreat for years to come. 

Helical Piers and Tiebacks Installed to Stabilize Tower, MN Cabin

Foreman Trevor Ingle revisited the cabin to install helical tieback to each pier, preventing any shifting of the piers towards the lake.

This cabin is now permanently stabilized and will remain a family retreat for years to come. 

DBS Installs PowerBrace™ Wall Bracing System To Stabilize Failing Basement Foundation Walls In Tower, MN Home

The owner of this home in Tower, MN was having issues with cracked and bowing walls. Apparently, the cracks were so bad that water had begun seeping through and onto the floors. Hoping to solve the cracking in their foundation walls, the owner reached out to DBS for a permanent solution.

Tower, MN Cabin Foundation Stabilized With DBS's SmartJack® and Helical Piering Solutions

The homeowner of this property was excited to remodel their cabin in Tower, MN. Upon inspecting the house before major remodel, they discovered that their home had major foundational issues. Looking for a solution, the owner called DBS.

Design Specialist Rich Johnsen went out to the property to conduct a free no-obligation estimate for the homeowner. After completing a thorough inspection, he informed the owners that their foundation had sunk into the soil over the years and that is what caused sagging floors. Foreman Trevor Ingle took on the lead for the installation of this project. With the assistance of a crew, they installed 24 SmartJack® supports along with 20 helical piers in order to provide enough support to the cabin. The SmartJack® supports were installed underneath the house in order to level the flooring, and the helical piers were driven underneath the perimeter of the house in order to help prevent the home from further sinking and settling.

After a successful installation, the cabin is guaranteed permanently stabilized, and the homeowner can relax comfortably knowing that their future investments will be protected once they decide to remodel.

Helical Piers Driven Under Failing Foundation To Prevent Cabin From Sinking in Tower, MN

The owner of this cabin in Tower, MN was experiencing problems with using the front door during winter. This is an issue that arises when different areas of a foundation sink and settle at different depths which is why the door was getting stuck. Foreman Tyler Nacey led the installation of this project with his crew. Together they installed 4 helical piers underneath the cabin. The helical piers are backed with a 25-year warranty against movement so the owner can confidently install new doors without worry.
