Cracked and Shifting Walls in Two Harbors, MN Repaired by Experts at DBS

Homeowners in Two Harbors, MN had been living in this home for around 25 years. Over the last 5 years, they noticed that cracks in the foundation were starting to worsen. The family had plans to renovate the basement but wanted to take care of the structural issues first. They contacted DBS for a free, no-obligation estimate for the foundation work.

DBS Design Specialist Henrik Makitalo visited the home and provided a thorough inspection as well as an estimate for the bowing basement walls. He proposed our PowerBrace™ Wall Bracing System to permanently stabilize and restore the cracked and bowing walls.

DBS Foreman Joe Harris and his crew first applied a layer of Foamax insulation that will add a radiant barrier to the walls. This material is waterproof, perfect for the basement environment where leaks are common. Then they installed 11 PowerBrace I-beams, connecting them to the basement's concrete floor and ceiling joists. These beams will be tightened over time by our service department with the goal of restoring the wall to its original position.

The homeowners were happy with the work done and can now begin their plans to renovate their home!

Flooding and Cold Air in Two Harbors, MN Home Fixed with Encapsulation

These homeowners in Two Harbors, MN were experiencing multiple problems in their home's crawl space. Moisture was creating a musty smell, animals were getting in, and the space was cold, which in turn caused the home to be cold as well. They needed a professional and permanent solution, so they trusted DBS with the project.

Design Specialist Zach Guilliams assisted the homeowners in a free, no-obligation estimate in order to find the perfect solution for their home. After a careful inspection, Zach suggested the homeowners encapsulate their crawl space to diminish the issues they were experiencing.

Foreman Raeshawn Pelfrey led the installation of this project along with a team. The team started by installing draining matting to help standing pools of the water drain out effectively. This was accompanied by our SmartDrain® System that will remove the water from the crawl space. The team then installed CleanSpace® Vapor Barrier to create a dry, clean finish. SprayFoam insulation will also be installed on the walls in order to keep the space warm and provide an extra moisture barrier.

Once the crew installs the SprayFoam insulation on the walls, this crawl space will be in pristine condition for the homeowners.
