Mr. Woods has an earthen crawl space with several problems:

- Water infiltration

- Humidity

- Mold

When it rains or during spring, water infiltrates in his crawl space creating a lot of humidity and mold over time. Another source of moisture is the earthen ground. The water in the soil evaporates creating moisture.

All of This has affected the comfort of his home, as his floors were cold and there was a smell of dampness in the house.So he contacted Systèmes Sous-sol in order to isolate his crawl space and resolve his problems definitively.

The solution

First, the mold on the wooden walls was removed with our Mold-X product. Then, our experts installed our SilverGlo insulation panels on the walls of the crawl space. 2 '' thick panels with radiant barrier to isolate the cold and reflect heat inside the crawl space. They then laid our TerraBlock insulation sheets on the earthen floor. They made it possible to insulate the crawl space and protect it against humidity. Finally, our experts installed our CleanSpace coating on top of the TerraBlock. Moisture is therefore blocked, it protects the TerraBlock insulation sheets and crawl space into a clear and clean appearance.

Problem

Ms. Forster recently purchased a property with a few crawl space issues:

• Damp, moldy smell in the house

• High level of humidity in the house

• Cold main floor during winter

Solution

• Encapsulation of the crawl space with our drainage membrane and CleanSpace coating

• Wall insulation with our SilverGlo panels

This is another crawl space that was suffering from water infiltration.

When water had invaded the place, it had affected badly on the floors in too many areas, causing it to sag. 

We have solved this crawl space problems by installing a drainage membrane on the floor to help water find its way to the drainage system. Then, we covered the floor with a CleanSpace membrane, which mainly serves to prevent water vapor from leaving the floor and rising to the upper floors. Next, we installed SmartJack systems, which are galvanized steel beams used to support the sagging floor. Finally,we had installed SmartDrain drainage systems, which are used to get rid of infiltrating water.

Now that our work is done, the place is completely encapsulated!

Mrs. Monique B. from Gatineau called us to tell us about her problems related to mold and moisture in her crawl space. Our crew then proceeded to install a CleanSpace membrane, a SmartSump pump system, and two SmartJack support pillars. They also applied Mold-X Neutralizer to areas affected by mold. Our customer can now enjoy her basement without having to worry about water getting in!

When our specialists inspected this home in Gatineau, they found that the crawl space had high humidity levels, creating conditions conducive to condensation, unpleasant odors, mold growth, and material deterioration. Moisture rising from the ground could also affect indoor air quality throughout the house, since air from the crawl space naturally circulates upward to the upper floors. In addition, certain sections of the structure required additional support to ensure the stability of the floors. To address these issues, our team fully encapsulated the crawl space by installing a drainage matting to effectively channel water, a CleanSpace® vapor barrier to block moisture from the ground and create a clean, dry environment, and SmartJack® supports to reinforce the joists and stabilize the floors. This work now allows for better moisture control, protects the structure from the long-term effects of water, improves indoor air quality, and provides the homeowner with a healthier, more durable, and much easier-to-maintain crawl space.
