This homeowner called us originally to talk about a crack he had in his foundation that was letting water in. It had been in his home since he purchased it 26 years ago, but he was finally ready to fix it. When our Home Comfort Specialist came out to the home, he sat the homeowners down to talk about their home comfort issues. They stated that in addition to the crack, they wanted to reduce their humidity and mold in the basement, and they wanted to see if insulating it would fix the issue.
We had the perfect solution for this customer! We utilized two-part expanding spray foam. We insulated the rim joist (the perimeter of the floor framing system along the exterior of the home). We spray this foam in the rim joist and over the sill plate. Insulating the rim joist in this way seals all air leaks -- filling in the cracks and gaps that are present there. This prevents outside air from getting into the home. The homeowner is now very happy, and he is much more comfortable in his home!
Homeowner was referred to us by a prior client! He was experiencing issues with allergens in the basement including mold, dampness, and dust. This was a 1900's foundation wicking moisture into the home. Our Dr Energy Saver solution included the implementation of a Clean Space Encapsulation.
This homeowner in Northampton, MA needed his insulation removed and mold remediated.
We were able to help this customer. In order to remove the insulation, we had to first bag all large pieces of fiberglass batt insulation. Then, we had to use a vacuum in order to remove the loose fill insulation.
Now, this home is ready for the next steps -- air sealing and installing new insulation!
These homeowners in Northampton, MA wanted to make their home more energy efficient as well as eliminate moisture coming up from their dirt crawlspace.
Our first step with crawlspaces is to make sure that outside air and temperatures can't get in. We sealed the rim joist and any vents letting in drafts as well as installing our SilverGlo graphite infused EPS foam board with a radiant barrier facing to make sure the cold cannot get in through the walls. We then seal off the floor, starting with a dimpled matting to create air space and a thermal break. Then we put down our TerraBlock floor insulation, and seal the floor off with a vapor barrier liner.
Thanks to Dr. Energy Saver by Eco Energy Solutions, these homeowners will be paying less to keep their home comfortable and will not have to worry about moisture getting in!
Basement windows inserts were installed and sealed air tight.
