Installing a Basement Door in Cheshire, MA

This homeowner in Cheshire, MA reached out to us about her basement. She had several issues going on, and was not sure what she needed. However, she knew that she was uncomfortable in her home due to her insulation, and she knew her home was not energy efficient. She also had mold in her basement she wanted addressed. When our Home Comfort Specialist came out to the home, he noted that they had an older door at the bottom of their hatchway steps that was allowing outside air into the basement.

We had the perfect solution for this customer. In this solution, we installed an insulated exterior door. The proper framing is installed, followed by a new door with a locking knob. Result - warmer basement and floors over the basement, drier basement in summer, lower fuel and electric costs, less drafts, house easier to heat, more security.

Insulating a Basement in Cheshire, MA

This homeowner in Cheshire, MA reached out to us because she wanted an estimate for getting her home looked at. She did not know what she needed specifically, but knew that she had a severe flood in her basement at one point. When our Home Comfort Specialist came out to the home, he spoke to the homeowner in more detail to find out what she needed. Among other things, she needed help with her energy efficiency. Her basement was not insulated, and that was causing energy loss.

We had the perfect solution for this customer! In this solution, we utilize two-part expanding spray foam. Once we remove the old insulation, we insulate the rim joist (the perimeter of the floor framing system along the exterior of the home). We spray this foam in the rim joist and over the sill plate. Insulating the rim joist in this way seals all air leaks -- filling in the cracks and gaps that are present there. This prevents outside air from getting into the home. Now, this homeowner is much more comfortable in her home, and will have lower energy bills!

Insulating a Basement in Williamsburg, MA

This homeowner in Williamsburg, MA reached out to us because he wanted to remove the exposed fiberglass in his basement. The basement had a mold problem as well as a water and rodent problem. The basement was half finished and half unfinished, which provided an additional concern, as the homeowner needed to make sure the water, mold, and rodents were not impacting the finished section.

We were able to help this customer. We began with tearing out the inefficient fiberglass batts and removing the mold. Our goal was to help the homeowner feel more comfortable in his home. For insulation, we utilized our Foamax polyisocyanurate board alongside two-part spray foam to insulate the basement. The Foamax polyiso board was able to fasten directly over the existing walls. Now, this homeowner is happy to have his home cleaner, brighter, and much more comfortable!
